FORTHCOMING TITLE, ETA DECEMBER 2026
Spurgeon’s final sermons rolled off the press in 1917, concluding an epic project known as the Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit. His publisher wanted to continue, but paper shortages during World War I finally forced the venture to end. Now these final messages are available again in the fifth and final set released by Reformation Heritage Books and Midwestern Seminary.
“These sermons are Spurgeon’s greatest legacy to the church,” says Geoff Chang, series editor.
An Ongoing Legacy offers thirteen volumes of Spurgeon sermons, including many that were delivered at the Metropolitan Tabernacle Thursday evening service. Today’s church is still shaped by Spurgeon’s heart for the poor, his bold stand for orthodoxy, and his Christ-centered theology.
Read these moving sermons from the later years of Spurgeon’s ministry to discover the timeless relevance of the gospel message.

About this restoration:
For most of Spurgeon’s ministry, a sermon preached on Sunday morning was taken down in shorthand, revised by Spurgeon himself, typeset, printed, and distributed to readers within days. What began as weekly penny sermons eventually became the sixty-three-volume Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, one of the great publishing achievements of the nineteenth century. The pace was extraordinary. Those original pages bear the marks of their history. Some impressions are faint, others uneven. Broken letters, worn type, stray ink, and other imperfections occasionally find their way onto the page. These are small reminders that these pages were the product of a busy Victorian print shop serving an enormous readership.
In light of that history, our determination to publish the best edition possible has required years of careful restoration by a small team of editors and typesetters. Often working one letter at a time, they have repaired damaged characters, reduced distracting artifacts, and restored original letterforms using tools and techniques developed specifically for this project. As the work progressed, the methods became increasingly refined, allowing each successive volume to benefit from what had been learned before it. The most recent volumes represent the fullest expression of those efforts. They remain facsimiles that preserve the exact layout and pagination of the originals, but they’ve been restored to unprecedented clarity.
