God used it firstly as a friend I'd come to know recently prayed for me during a debilitating illness using this book. So many days, when she sent me the little summary, it was exactly what I needed to hear that day. Two years later, after I was surgically healed of my rare complaint, she gave me the copy of Nancy's book "I'm Praying For You" that she'd used to pray for me. The entire experience was life changing for me, from the first day she prayed to the day she gave me the book, and continues to this day. I was a strong believer, and I knew God was using this debilitating condition for my good. I never railed at God or complained because I was confined to bed for nearly 3 years. That God would use this friend and this book to minister to me left me determined I would do likewise when God brought someone into my life. I purchased three copies of the book ready for ministry.
A year later, a dear friend of my daughter, also a believer in Christ, had a life threatening diagnosis and my heart immediately responded with the desire to pray into her from Nancy's book. I'm halfway through, but already, the times she's dropped me a note to say "that's just what I needed to hear today" has humbled me over again. It takes commitment for forty days, and I didn't promise to pray every single day. But as I began, I couldn't keep away! God was doing things in me as I read through the explanation and prayed the prayers. I'm not in need of physical healing, but I am "suffering" through another spiritual challenge that requires spiritual healing. This book is not just for medical praying, but whole of life healing.
This book is a priceless resource. It is worth buying to pray for yourself, without needing someone suffering from a medical condition. We all suffer spiritual sickness and challenge at times. Your church or Pastor may be challenged and needs prayer support and encouragement. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I've begun using it as a prompt to deeper study and prayer. My original copy from my friend is now written in with extra verses and even some additions or adaptations for non medical prayers. As I said, this book is a priceless gem and prayer resource.
