An Orthodox Catechism was first published in 1680 by Hercules Collins, and is a significant work within our Baptist heritage. It is based on one of the most important distinctly Reformed documents over the past 500 years—The Heidelberg Catechism. Recognising its value for Christians and churches, Hercules Collins set out to edit it to conform to Baptist beliefs.
We are republishing this lightly edited version of Collins’ original edition, with the addition of Scripture proofs from the Authorized Version. This edition also contains the appendix that Collins wrote on the ordinance of singing. Today’s readers will greatly benefit from not only reading, but studying this book.
