This was a controversial work in ecclesiastical circles of the 17th century. Twenty years after its publication, the rational ecclesiastical elite were scoffing at it’s contents. Owen strongly defended the ideas within this book, and history has shown him to be right! It is a classic of Christian devotional thought that still influences the church today. This is the original text with a new layout and is fully subtitled which makes it more accessible to a new generation of readers.

Edmond Smith Kerryn, my wife gave me “The Death of Death in the Death of Christ” for my birthday recently. So I am the one to give a book review.
When I was young as a theological student I read an edition of this book. As one more experienced now in the doctrines of sovereign grace, I can come to firmer grips of what John Owen writes concerning the implications of the Death of Christ. Also, this volume is beautifully set out with a helpful layout and subtitles throughout the whole book.
I like to think it will not be considered too voluminous for modern readers, for the doctrine of Particular Redemption as spelt out by Owen cannot be disputed.
