Informative and encouraging, this brief book serves as a helpful primer and quick reference tool regarding Presbyterian baptism for pastors, elders, prospective new church members, parents, and family members of children. The practice of infant baptism benefits the children themselves, their parents, and the congregation as a whole. This short volume concludes with answers to frequently asked and pertinent questions on the topic.
160 pages.
This is helpful introduction to the reformed understanding of baptism. It’d be a helpful read for expecting or new parents thinking through baptism, young adults who were baptised but wondering if it was ‘real,’ or anyone exploring baptism.
My main negative is that, after being quite irenic in the opening chapter by acknowledging the variety of views held by Christians, the main part of the book argues quite strongly for the covenantal position. On one level it’s no surprise—the author believes his position is Biblical—but it felt a little jarring.
