Words of Cheer and Comfort to Sick & Sorrowful Souls
By Mrs. C. H. Spurgeon
“A Cluster of Camphire was written by Mrs. Spurgeon after the passing of her own husband. It was intended to act as a soothing balm to those who had lost a loved one to death.” – from the new introduction.
Susannah Spurgeon (1832-1903) was the wife of C. H. Spurgeon of London, known as the “Prince of Preachers.” Though her literary skills rival those of her more famous husband, much of what she has written has laid in obscurity for over a hundred years. This book represents the first reprinting of this special collection of devotional thoughts since the original edition of 1898.
This volume, reproduced in its original format, in a very nice hardcover “pocket edition” for ease of carrying, would make an ideal gift for anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one, and would be of great benefit to pastors, chaplains, counselors, funeral home directors and others in like professions, as well as any Christian who desires to comfort the sick and sorrowing.
This book also contains the first-time publication of some letters by Susannah and C. H. Spurgeon from a private collection, and a biographical essay on the life of Susannah Spurgeon, all of which adds to the historical value of this publication for libraries and Spurgeon collectors.
Cloth hardcover in Cranberry with gold stamping on the cover and spine. 174 pages, illustrated.
