The Grace of the Law: A Study in Puritan Theology by Ernest Kevan at 268 pages of text is a great but thought provoking read.
Kevan presents the Puritan understanding of the Law as good and as a blessing to the Christian. Further, that the three fold use of the Law is to be made with the permenance of the Moral Law demonstrated in living a life pleasing and sanctified to God.
I really liked the plethora of quotes (citations as footnotes, l really dislike endnotes) relating to the Puritan understanding of the Law. This book highlights the relationship between the attributes of God and his Law along with a goal of salvation, conformity to the image of Christ.
Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the three fold use of the Law this book provides a valuable corrective in in understanding the Law as beneficial to the ongoing Christian life..... I heartily recommend the reading of this book.
