When a Jewish religious leader heard Jesus say, ‘You must be born again’, he was hearing words of the greatest importance, for without this ‘new birth’ entering the kingdom of God is simply not possible. In investigating this ‘key truth’ of the Bible, this mini-guide shows us the sheer greatness of the salvation Jesus brings.

This is a fantastic little book. Though the topic is regeneration, all parts of the Christian experience, ranging from calling, to conversion to the proper place of the law in the regenerate heart are all covered.
The evangelistic tone of the book really draws you in to examine yourself to see if you've really experienced regeneration (which is nothing short of a miracle). A lot of ground is covered, from false views of regeneration, arminianism, Finney, Pelagianism - there's even a discussion of regeneration in infants.
The discussion is centred around 2 anchor texts describing the new birth, John 3:3-8 & Ephesians 2:1-10. The author shows that a proper understanding of regeneration cannot be had without grasping the extent to which the fall damaged every individual, so total depravity, and total inability are covered at length as well as Adam's representing us.
This would serve as a great intro book for someone who wants to understand the radical change that has taken place in their life, or to someone who is unsure if they need to be born again, or has a false view of what it means to be born again.
Throughout the work, authors from the reformed & puritan tradition are quoted, including Luther, Calvin, Edwards, Bavinck to name a few. This would be a great book to whet the appetite in digging into the rich reformed theological tradition, which is presented here as inherently practical, this isn't just theology for the head but also for the heart and hands.
Heartily recommend!
