Joseph grows up as a younger brother, hated by his own family, sold into slavery, and yet God's revelation will come through him. God will use Joseph to deliver His people from famine, and the world will seek deliverance from him. Judah, fourth son of Jacob, does not impress us when he marries a Canaanite and visits a prostitute. But the amazing grace of God in Jesus Christ will change his heart, and Judah will begin to emerge as the royal son, from whom will come the Messiah. Christ will work in the lives of His sinful people to bring about a great salvation. Even when people plan evil, God is able to bring about His good.
