In 1956, five young men traveled into the jungles of Ecuador to reach the fierce Waorani Tribe with the gospel. In a nearby village, their wives waited to hear from them. The news they received - all five missionaries had been murdered - changed their lives forever. The widow of one of those men, here records the remarkable story of their courage and devotion to Christ.
This is a lasting story of God's grace and great courage.
"Through Gates of Splendour" is a classical piece of Christian literature that belongs on the bookshelf of any serious student. The book is easy to read and Elliot has a knack for drawing out spiritual truths in the lives of these godly men. By the end of this book, I personally felt that my outlook on life was very pagan in comparison and it has challenged me to hold on tighter to the hope of eternal things rather than to those which are temporal (Hebrews 10:23).
