For centuries people have been tormented by one question above all ? 'If God is good and all-powerful, why does he allow his creatures to suffer pain?' And what of the suffering of animals, who neither deserve pain nor can be improved by it?
The greatest Christian thinker of our time sets out to disentangle this knotty issue. With his signature wealth of compassion and insight, C.S. Lewis offers answers to these crucial questions and shares his hope and wisdom to help heal a world hungering for a true understanding of human nature.
In his writing, Lewis shows an unrivalled skill in combining penetrating insight, clear grasp of essentials, and a warmly human common sense. Though written 50 years ago, The Problem of Pain remains a fresh and relevant Christian response to this most perplexing aspect of the human condition.

This book has given a complete turn around to my outlook towards pain and suffering. Pain is a blessing through which the loving God takes a submissive creature through the process of becoming lovable. Pain helps man to come to the place where he realises and admits that he is incapable of anything without the help of the creator and in his submission to the perfect will of the creator that he can have his perfect peace and happiness
