Discipleship is vital to faithful parenting. When we disciple our children, we are calling them to view Jesus as not only our guide to life but as our life itself. In this booklet we consider the role of sermons in the task of discipling children by considering how to teach our children to view sermons, prepare to hear sermons, listen to sermons, live out sermons, and weave sermons into daily life. In all our endeavors as parents, we must remember, “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it” (Ps. 127:1). We must therefore salt all our earnest efforts with earnest prayer, as we labor to pull down the benediction of our heavenly Father upon our families and homes.
