When Edward J. Young died suddenly on February 14, 1968, it marked the shocking and seemingly premature end of a life of faithful service as Professor of Old Testament at Westminster Theological Seminary and minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. It also served as the beginning of a nearly 50-year dream of his son, Davis A. Young, to write a biography of his father.
In this book Davis Young has composed a unique window on the remarkable life of his father. We read of his brilliant scholarship in defense of the Bible and the Reformed faith, and his remarkable ability to grasp and teach languages.
Davis also writes extensively about his father's devotion to the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. He served long tenures on Christian Education and the special committee that produced the original Trinity Hymnal. Faithful in his vocation as a minister of the gospel, he found time for writing devotional studies, working with young people, and humble enough, his son notes, even to car pool students to the Christian school.
