Book Review: Susie: The Life and Legacy of Susannah Spurgeon, Wife of Charles H. Spurgeon (Ray Rhodes)

I couldn’t put this book down as I came to love and know Susanna Spurgeon better.

This book shows Susie’s devotion to her husband Charles Haddon Spurgeon and the ways she loved and supported him. It shows how, with ordinary means, she did some amazing ministries including the book fund and church planting. Her desire to serve poor pastors was shown throughout and she did this with great generosity and hard work.

Susie was also such a great example of suffering well. There are so many great lessons in this book as well as just the joy of taking a backseat in the life of the closest companion to such a famous Preacher.

The only thing I would have loved to see was more of was her writings, I will just have to do more reading!
