Regarding physical and mental disabilities, three different views have produced three different attitudes and results.
1. Historical view: Disability is an abnormal part of the normal world
I was amazed at them, and treated them as abnormal and alien and ignored, rejected, and abandoned them.
2. Postmodern view: Disability is a normal part of a normal world
Just like the difference in human personality and hair, it is just a difference, not a defect. Therefore, we should not give mercy and charity, but should be appreciated and celebrated.
3. Biblical view: Disability is a normal part of an abnormal world
Due to the damage of the fall, all creatures are subdued under the void, sighing and laboring together. Physical and mental disability is a more significant form of damage, and we have to remedy it for the glory of God.
This book allows us to realize the difficulties faced by people with disabilities and their families, and how the church accepts the call from God and treats the different members of the body with hospitality.
