Deeply thoughtful but easy-to-read book

This is a short, sweet, and mercifully accessible book that reclaims a high view of friendship. It's worth buying for the final chapter on a biblical theology of friendship alone. I've read a lot of books on friendship and this is probably my favourite one so far. It is grounded in some rich theological thinking including some teleological thinking about the ultimate purpose for humanity and human relationships, and consequently the book embeds friendship in a much deeper and more purposeful context than other books have typically done. The book was encouraging and inspiring overall yet very accessible, and it's definitely a book I will recommend and lend to many others.

It does feature a heavily male-centric perspective (as indeed most Christian books on friendship do), with very few female perspectives or women authors referenced except for several references to Esther Edwards Burr's journal.
